Gerry McGovern's Little Black Book

Gerry McGovern is the design director and chief creative officer of Land Rover. A graduate of the Royal College of Art, he is recognised as one of the world's leading automotive designers
My favourite table for eating is here - housed in the Mies van der Rohe-designed Seagram Building. The Philip Johnson interior is a masterclass in sophistication. The food is amazing and, although I only go there once or twice a year, the co-owners Julian Niccolini and Alex von Bidder are always very welcoming.
My favourite hotel in Palm Springs. It's a tiny motel, renovated several years ago, with a genuine mid-century-modern character, and it's very cool
I get all my suits made at Henry Poole on Savile Row. They cut to my exact requirements and are expert tailors. It's a great place to visit - even if it's just for a cup of tea and a chat with Simon and Alex - and has a wonderful atmosphere.
Kenilworth Cobblers, Warwickshire
Much of the week I am suited and booted for work and, like my suits, my boots must look impeccable. Kenilworth Cobblers is a proper old-fashioned family-run business - they know their customers by name and the service is exemplary.
This is the only traditional fishmonger in the area, and the quality of the fish is superb. Darren Chapman, the owner, is also a very accomplished chef. Alan Cristea , London W1
I have known Alan for many years - he's one of life's real characters. I've bought some great works by artists such as Josef Albers, Patrick Caulfield, Michael Craig Martin and Julian Opie here. I never tire of looking at them.
Palm Canyon Galleria, Palm Springs, California
In Palm Springs there are some great mid-century-modern emporiums and shops, and I love browsing in them. This is one of my favourites.
