Jennifer Lopez, Nicole Scherzinger Glam Up Indian Wedding
Jennifer Lopez and Nicole Scherzinger were among the stars at the
high-profile wedding of Indian billionaire Sanjay Hinduja and Anusuya Mahtani.
Hinduja is the heir to a diversified business group based in the U.K. and India,
who married his long-time girlfriend Mahtani. Her sister is well-known
Mumbai-based fashion designer Nandita Mahtani, with whom Anusuya runs
London-based fashion boutique Ananya.
The lavish three-day wedding extravaganza started on Feb. 10 and included
venues such as the Jagmandir Island Palace resort in Udaipur, Rajasthan. In
addition to the Hollywood guests, the wedding was graced by a bevy of Bollywood
and Indian fashion celebrities.
Scherzinger made a fashion statement donning a pink Indian saree and posted
pictures on her Instagram account. The former Pussycat Dolls singer posed with
Nandita Mahtani, writing, “Thankyou for my beautiful #Sari.”
Lopez performed at the wedding, sporting a black leotard. A brief glimpse of
her performance was captured in the below Instagram video by former MTV India VJ
and actress Sophie Choudhry.
Scherzinger performed as well. The stellar guest list also included Bollywood
actors Arjun Kapoor and Ranveer Singh, among others.
In the past, big ticket Indian weddings have also included performances by
international celebrities such as Kylie Minogue. The Australian pop star
performed at the 2004 wedding of Vanisha Mittal (daughter of one of the UK's top
billionaires Lakshmi Mittal) and Amit Bhatia. Considered one of the most
expensive weddings of all time, the festivities were held at various historic
locations in Paris. The highlight was a performance by Minogue at the Eiffel
Tower.
Kylie, 17, and Kendall Jenner, 19, might still be teenagers, but they are
giving the big girls some serious competition on the red carpet! Both sisters
flaunted unforgettable looks that featured the super hot sheer trend, and we
love that each of their looks fit their individual style.

Trend alert! Sheer detailing was all over the red carpet for the Grammy
Awards and all of the A-list after parties that followed. From Beyonce’s
cleavage baring dress to Katy Perry’s beaded frock, it was all about see through
lace and nude illusions.
Kylie and Kendall both got the sheer memo and they even had matching
cutouts…but their looks still couldn’t have been more different from each other
and we think it’s awesome that they each have such distinctive style.

Classic Kendall went for a feminine black knit Eliee Saab halter, and it was
so flattering on her tall, slender figure. The plunging neckline was beautiful
and the floral detailing of the sheer skirt was perfect — it actually reminds us
of Nicki Minaj’s Tom Ford gown.
Kylie went for a contrasting look and turned heads in an ivory, floor-length
gown with a nude illusion and gorgeous, geometric pattern sequin detailing. The
dress was also backless — and between the side cutouts and the hip-hugging
sillhouette, this look was beyond sexy.
Despite being laid up at home with a broken leg, David Jones' new chief
executive Ian Nairn kicked off the retailer's first collection showcase since
taking the reins last year with an event of King Kong proportions.
Brand ambassador Jessica Gomes ushered in the new era of David Jones dressed
in a sumptuous white fur vest and '70s inspired flares by the doyenne of the
Australian fashion scene Carla Zampatti. Far from the damsel in distress, she
stormed the new, supersized catwalk with a choir of hipster looking drummer boys
chasing after her, the fashion equivalent of an alpha dog marking its
territory.
"I love dressing like a dude," a pumped up Gomes told Fairfax Media about the
retailer's new bigger, brighter and bolder direction.
"This is very high end and editorial show and it's a real departure from
other campaigns. I've never seen the stage this big, they are definitely making
things bigger and better," she said.
Man-style suiting, oversized jackets and relaxed silhouettes are some of
biggest trends for the upcoming winter months with labels like Jac + Jack,
Willow and Zimmermann showing off blouses, pants and dresses which Katharine
Hepburn would have happily worn while she was never explaining and never
complaining.
The Studio 54 vibe of the show reached fever pitch when flares, ponchos,
culottes and slouchy felt hats by Zampatti, Ellery and Manning Cartell came down
the runway, followed diligently by bearded and tattooed gents in gold lame
smoking jackets, leather suits and slim fit track pants by Jack London,
Vanishing Elephant, Calibre and Bassike.
Sporty luxe has now cemented itself as the new little black dress trend of
the Australian stylescape, with The Upside – Jodhi Meares' yoga and performance
wear range – making its David Jones runway debut.
Off the catwalk, and the "Seven on David Jones" space in Sydney was
transformed into a gritty Manhattan borough with bills posted on pillars while
VIP guests, including Buddy Franklin's bride-to-be Jesinta Campbell and tennis
great and reformed modeliser Mark Philippoussis, enjoyed champagne, espresso
martinis and ate street food one would normally pick up after a late night out
in the Big Apple such as the NYC equivalent of the "dirty street pie" – macaroni
and cheese and hot dogs.
High-street brands which new Woolworths executives like Nairn are keen to
promote, such as Country Road and Witchery were not shown on the catwalk on
Wednesday and South Africa labels Studio W, RE: and JT One won't hit the racks
until spring.
"This is a celebration of Australian fashion," David Jones group executive
merchandiser Donna Player said.

While the rest of us were glued to the screens watching the Olympics and
enjoying our long weekend, our friends across the pond were in a star-studded
tizzy. The BAFTAs were held on Sunday night at the Royal Opera House in London
and the place was lit up with major star-wattage.
Lupita Nyong’o, despite losing out Best Supporting Actress to an
absent-Jennifer Lawrence, won the red carpet last night in a stunning Christian
Dior Couture gown. The lively green colour was perfectly set off against her
skin and gold accessories, and was topped with a flash of magenta lipstick.
Despite last week’s more-than-unfortunate outfit, Uma Thurman proved she’s still
got it in a breathtaking navy-blue Atelier Versace strapless column dress and
diamond choker. With such a striking silhouette, there was no need to clutter it
with accessories and frills—Uma is back in our good books with this one.
Angelina Jolie hasn’t been on many red carpets of late, but when she turns up,
you know it’s going to be good. Wearing a Saint Laurent tux and perfectly
matched with hubby and nominee Brad Pit, Jolie looked every bit the bombshell
she is with a seductively undone bowtie and wavy locks pushed to one side.
Also topping the list is Amy Adams in a sheer panelled column dress by
Victoria Beckham, perfectly fitted and streamlined in typical VB fashion. Cate
Blanchett continued to dazzle in a black and silver gown from Alexander McQueen
and statement Chopard diamond necklace that seems so very Cate. All of this red
carpet fuss has gotten us riled up for the Academy Awards, just under two weeks
away. The countdown is officially on!
We haven’t even crossed the Grammys mark yet and the red-carpet hits just
keep on coming.
At Sunday night’s Producers Guild of America Awards, I noticed a few things I
really liked, starting with the always impeccable "Homeland" star Claire Danes
in a pale blue silk metallic Dior cocktail sheath with a twist-front bodice.
This dress is perfection, sweet and sultry in one, and I love the icy blue
color.
After the floral-embellished turquoise Gucci gown she wore to the SAG Awards
on Saturday night, "12 Years A Slave" actress Lupita Nyong’o returned to a more
streamlined and modern silhouette, with a terra-cotta-colored, asymmetrical,
one-shoulder Stella McCartney dress.
But both women may have been outshined by Helen Mirren. The 68-year-old, who
has been a star this awards show season, wore a sparkly nude gown by Elie Saab
that had serious sex appeal.
In the jewelry department, "Veep" actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus accessorized
her Max Mara little black dress with some insanely gorgeous earrings by
L.A.-based designer Irene Neuwirth.
Then there was "Dallas Buyers Club" actor Jared Leto. It’s sure been fun to
watch him this awards show season, from the man bun to Sunday night’s
cool-looking Dior Homme black wool kimono-style shawl collar suit and
clerical-looking white cotton shirt with inverted collar.
I’m glad to see that it’s not just the ladies who are bringing it.
Thursday was a busy day for movie mavens.
Stars gathered for the Critics' Choice Movie Awards, and some of the actors
who won there also were winners when it came to fashion — among them Cate
Blanchett, Amy Adams, Lupita Nyong'o and Jared Leto, Los Angeles Times fashion
critic Booth Moore says.
Earlier in the day, film and fashion intersected in the Oscar nominations for
costume design. The academy gave a nod to period dramas, our Adam Tschorn
reports.
"American Hustle" and "Gravity" led the pack in Oscar nominations in a season
when the academy is noting a generational shift, writes film critic Kenneth

made from recycled fibers.
