Celebrity Street Style of the Week

Every week, I scour the web to find inspiring outfits on your favorite celebs and help you recreate their looks! This week, I was inspired by Hilary Duff, Naya Rivera, and Nicky Hilton, who all wore outfits featuring leather leggings/pants, an awesome trend to try out this winter. Read on to see how you can get their looks for yourself.

Look 1: Hilary Duff’s Comfy & Trendy Outfit

Hilary Duff was one of the many celebrities who wore leather pants recently, putting a casual yet trendy twist on them. Hilary dressed her leather pants down, pairing them with cool high-top sneakers, a cozy dark gray sweater, and a lighter gray scarf. She completed her ensemble with a black clutch, oversize sunglasses, and bold red lipstick.
Hilary’s outfit is comfortable thanks to her sneakers and warm sweater, but her trendy accessories really make this look stand out.

Outfit Inspired by Hilary

While leather leggings are often reserved for nights out, Hilary’s casual look shows us that leather or faux leather leggings also work for daytime. A slightly oversize dark gray sweater dresses down the bold leggings (and offers more coverage than Hilary’s does), while a lighter gray scarf and sneakers add casual style. Instead of a basic sneaker, we went with some eye-catching studded high-tops for an extra-trendy vibe.

Accessorize with stylish items like dark oversize sunglasses, a chunky watch, and a black clutch (this one features unique asymmetrical zippers). If you’re feeling extra bold, go for a red lip like Hilary.

Look 2: Naya Rivera’s Leather & Lace Combo

Naya Rivera turned heads in a chic yet flirty combination of high-waisted leather pants and a white lace crop top, along with an oversize woolen camel coat, mirrored aviators, and black open-toe heels. Naya’s coat gives this getup an especially chic touch, and adds yet another texture to the leather and lace combination. In addition, her super-sleek accessories dress the look up.

High-waisted faux leather pants are similar to leggings, but are a little less form-fitting, which makes them ideal for daytime wear. Although Naya paired hers with a crop top, for my outfit re-creation, I’m going with a slightly more conservative lace top option. In my opinion, it’s much more versatile.

Trendy accessories, like open-toe heels and silver mirrored aviators (obsessed with these!), add interest. However, the most eye-catching piece in this ensemble is the camel-colored wool-blend coat, which has a very fashion-forward and slightly oversized fit. It really pulls the entire outfit together.

Look 3: Nicky Hilton’s Casual Chic Look

Nicky Hilton also decided to partake in the leather legging trend this season. She wore hers with an oversize black-and-red striped sweater, leather booties, a rectangular black handbag, and a pendant necklace. An oversize sweater is a winter staple, but wearing one with leather leggings creates an unexpectedly chic look, especially when paired with cool accessories.

Outfit Inspired by Nicky

Balance out a pair of sleek faux leather leggings with an oversize red-and-black striped sweater. Since they’re made of the same material, pairing the leggings with some leather wedged ankle booties elongates the leg. This particular pair of booties also has a pointed toe like Nicky’s.


Add on chic accessories, like a long pendant necklace and cool rings. Lastly, grab a rectangular quilted bag that picks up on the outfit’s color scheme of black and gold.
